Fish and Chips
We have partnered with Feed The Homeless to give fish and chips to people experiencing homelessness and would love to do this on a more regular basis.
"@saltandmalt and @the_fish_truck_ smashed it out of the park tonight !!! Feeding 130 tonight. The food generously donated by Josh, and cooked in Chris's gorgeous van with Shona 'front of house' beautiful smile ❤️YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING, THANK YOU"
We have also expanded this project further and are working with Alive to give care home residents in Bristol a reminiscence experience to go alongside their fish and chips, taking them on a trip down memory lane. Residents are encouraged to share stories about their memories of fish and chips and queue at the fish and chip van to place their order. This small act may not sound like much, but it means the world to so many who didn’t think they would get this opportunity again.
“I never thought I’d get to do this again”
“This is just so much fun”
“Thank you, it brings back so many memories for me”.
“I love fish and chips – this is so special”.
“Fish and chips like this, from the van, is so much more than just food. It’s the whole experience. Residents were empowered to go outside and collect their food, to reconnect with the wider community. Even those in wheelchairs and don’t tend to go outside, braved the cold and loved every minute. For many they spoke about their memories, of fish and chips by the sea, with their family. Its been a very moving day to see residents respond so positively to the day.”
